Brexit – the Never Ending Story
The decision of the UK to leave the EU, expected to be put into effect in 2019,  will be one of this year’s major events affecting Europe. Despite the detailed agreements that have been negotiated, there remain many uncertainties on the impact of Brexit on individuals and businesses alike. In addition to the technical aspects relating to the withdrawal of the UK from the EU, there is also the future relationship between the UK and the EU, which remains to be defined.
Ever since the 2016 referendum, Brexit has become a recurrent theme at the annual UIA Congresses. Invariably, the topic gave ground to animated discussions on a wide range of legal issues. This will not be different this year. After a general overview of the process, status and outlook of Brexit, experts will discuss the impact of Brexit on the position of individuals, employees and lawyers, both within the EU27 and the UK, and the impact for businesses in terms of contracts, regulations, tax, IP law etc.
