The Digital World Goes Tax
The digitalisation changes the world and it changes the tax world. In the digital world it is easy for multinationals to reduce their respective tax burden beyond any acceptable rate. Any attempt to go for special companies or special business situations seems to fail. The introduction of special rules for internet companies seems to be difficult or impossible as the differentiation between the "old" world and the "new" world disappears. So new rules for worldwide international taxation might become necessary. The session will explain the existing basic concept of international taxation of businesses, the currently discussed ideas and the political and economical background of the respective ideas.
