IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT DENGUE

The five states of Rio de Janeiro, Acre, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Distrito Federal declared a state of public health emergency in response to the sharp rise in Dengue fever. Dengue fever is a potentially serious disease transmitted by mosquitos. According to the World Health Organization, most people who get dengue will not have symptoms, but for those who do, the most common symptoms are high fever, headache, body aches, nausea, vomiting, and rash. In severe cases, Dengue fever can be fatal. It is advisable to follow the recommendations of local authorities and apply mosquito prevention measures.  If you have any doubts or experience any symptoms, consult a doctor as soon as possible. For non-life-threatening infection, treatment primarily addresses the symptoms and includes paracetamol-based analgesics and rest. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs must be avoided.
