How Technological Innovation is Transforming Finance and International Trade?

  • 20/09/2024 - 9:15 - 10:45

Présentation

Advances in digitalisation and financial technology continue to affect the landscape of the financial system, including in the provision of banking and financial services, as well as in the international trade sector. Digital finance is evolving rapidly, and innovations may have an impact on diverse areas of the financial system, from payment services to financial markets and international trade. Artificial intelligence, social networks, machine learning, mobile applications, distributed ledger technology, cloud computing and big data analytics have given rise to new services and business models by established financial institutions and new market entrants. Banks that facilitate international trade by providing financing and guarantees to importers and exporters are aware of the importance of digital operating models. While digitalisation brings significant benefits to the financial and trade systems in various domains, including lower transaction costs and a higher level of financial inclusion, it can also create new vulnerabilities and amplify existing risks and challenges to banks and their customers, including those in the international trade sector. Speakers will describe the impact of new technologies on the banking and financial services industry, including how such technologies influence international trade, and will discuss the crucial role of lawyers in the Digital Era.
