UIA Women’s Network: screening of the film "I am Noojom, Aged 10 and Divorced”

The UIA Women’s Network is pleased to invite you to a screening of the film "I am Noojom, Aged 10 and Divorced” at which the director, Khadija Al-Salami, will be present.

In her film, Khadija Al-Salami gives a stark, personal account of her experience, which also illustrates the plight of women in Yemen. At the age of 11, after a forced marriage, she managed to obtain a divorce, return to school and find a job with the local television station.

Khadija Al-Salami campaigns against early marriages and advocates the education of women, which she regards as a bastion against ignorance and the key to their emancipation and independence.

The UIA, and its Women’s Network, support this struggle, which is part of the defence of the universal rights of all human beings.
