Fraud, Fantasy, and Fighting Crime in Real Estate

Real estate transactions are all too often the subject of creative fraudulent schemes, corruption, money laundering, and other high crimes and mischiefs. This joint programme will focus on ingenious schemes through a variety of speakers who have been involved as lawyers, lenders, or investigators of these activities – and other speakers who will provide legal and practical guidance to avoiding criminal aspects arising from the underside of real estate development. Possible speakers include the Trump Organisation, European real estate fraud investigators, Marbella developers, and Dakar real estate developers, investors, lenders, and attorneys. A portion of the programme will be members of the Commissions talking about real estate fraud and criminal issues in each of their countries – and regulations and practices for avoiding these troubles.
