The UIA Congress returns to Paris for the first time since 2007!
Paris, a mythical city, is a true source of international inspiration for many artists, photographers and musicians. Parisian monuments, with their history and impressive architecture, are undeniably part of the charm of the French capital.
Paris can be visited, but it can also be experienced: Paris is also the capital of gastronomy, fashion and shopping; a coffee on a terrace in one of the "Parisian bistros", a meal on the terrace in a brasserie, a sumptuous dinner in a gourmet restaurant... Committed to quality of life and sustainable development, the city offers a particularly pleasant environment to its inhabitants and visitors.
The hotels selected by the UIA are located in Paris, next to the Congress venue.

Paris has a very good urban transport network (bus, train and tram).

Sunday November 3, 2024 ● Full day tour
Full day trip to Champagne
Champagne is a name that resonates strongly, conjuring up images of celebration and the world-famous cathedral of Reims.
Yet beyond the glamour lies an unspoiled rural idyll of landscapes: the so- called "sacred triangle” of champagne.
A full day tour to this region will take approximately 10 hours.
In the morning, you will visit the Château de Condé, exploring its beautifully preserved rooms adorned with exquisite artworks and antique furnishings. You will be welcomed and offered a guided tour of the château – its decor and collections of the salons and rooms of the grand apartments – in two groups.
At the end of the visit, there will be a demonstration of the art of sabrage – a technique for opening a Champagne bottle with a sabre, used for ceremonial occasions – in the château's main courtyard, followed by an introduction to tasting Champagne from a winemaker who grows vines linked to the history of the Principality of Condé.
Lunch will be served in one of the Château's rooms.
In the afternoon, visit Mumm’s cellars in Reims. Discover the fascinating history and meticulous process behind the creation of Mumm's prestigious champagnes. Walk through the extensive underground cellars, learn about the art of champagne production and savour a guided tasting session of Mumm’s finest offerings.
Price of the general excursion: €176 per person
Reservations for tourist activities should be made directly through the LaFayette agency.
Some tours have a limited number of places and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. We therefore recommend reserving places for spouses/guests in advance. You will still be able to register with LaFayette at the Palais des Congrès, subject to availability. Payments must be made in Euros.
The final programme for tourist activities, including all details and departure times, will be printed in the final brochure.
A minimum number of 10 participants is required for each activity, without which the activity may be postponed or cancelled (in which case a refund will be offered). LaFayette will not provide refunds for any no-shows on the day of the activity.
All the activities offered below are exclusively reserved for UIA Congress attendees. The official language for all the activities is English. Depending on the number of participants and the languages spoken, sub-groups may be formed.

Fontainebleau Castle
Thursday 31 October 31 ● Morning & Early Afternoon
Price: €116 per person
The Chateau de Fontainebleau stands as a testament to the opulence and grandeur of French Renaissance architecture.
Located in the town of Fontainebleau, outside Paris, this magnificent palace served as a residence for French monarchs for over eight centuries. Its origins trace back to the 12th century, with subsequent expansions and renovations under rulers like King Francis I, who transformed it into a lavish royal residence in the 16th century. The chateau boasts a harmonious blend of architectural styles, from medieval fortifications to elegant Renaissance and classical features, reflecting the evolving tastes and influences of its occupants over the centuries.
Visitors to the Chateau de Fontainebleau are treated to an array of architectural marvels, encompassing sprawling courtyards, intricate stonework, and exquisitely adorned interiors. The palace is renowned for its beautifully decorated rooms, including the Francis I Gallery, adorned with intricate stucco work and frescoes, and the Throne Room, where Napoleon Bonaparte famously abdicated in 1814. The grounds surrounding the chateau feature landscaped gardens, providing a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Today, the Chateau de Fontainebleau stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site, inviting visitors to marvel at its rich history and timeless beauty.
Paris Danse
Friday 1 November ● Morning
Price: €35 per person
This tour tells you the history of dance and its evolution, from the ballets of Louis XIV to the cabarets of Montmartre. It is also the story of the emancipation of women's morals and the evolution of societies. If the cancan became what it is today, it is thanks to the liberation of the people after the Revolution, the emergence of café-concerts where people come to see a popular artist and especially women, finally free to dance by themselves. Dance is also the story of the City of Light where people have fun until dawn and why Hemingway wrote "Paris is a party".
This tour follows the evolution of dance through the women who have marked its history, from the ballet to the cabaret, the emancipation of morals and women!
Or else, Ladies of the Left Bank
Friday 1 November ● Morning
Price: €35 per person
Dare to wear petticoats – today your guide is all about women! Often less known to the general public, they have always been the shadows behind great men. From the Middle Ages to the present day, your visit will plunge you into an eventful history of combat, devotion and character. It was between Saint- Michel, the Pantheon, the Luxembourg Gardens and Saint-Germain des Prés that part of their history was written. Whether witch, poisoner, queen, saint, scientist, politician, revolutionary or writer, these women will surprise you as much as they will fascinate you.
Vaux le Vicomte Castle
Saturday 2 November ● Morning & Early Afternoon
Price: €132,50 per person
Vaux-le-Vicomte Castle, located in Maincy near Melun, is a grand 17th century baroque château renowned for its architectural harmony and stunning gardens. Designed by the architect, Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect, André Le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator, Charles Le Brun, the castle epitomizes classical French grandeur. It was built for Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV's Finance Minister, who hosted a legendary inauguration fête that led to his downfall.
The château features intricate interiors, lavish salons, and expansive formal gardens with symmetrical designs, fountains, and sculptures, making it a masterpiece of its era and a precursor to the Palace of Versailles.
The visit typically begins with a tour of the castle’s opulent interiors, where you can explore richly decorated rooms adorned with period furnishings, intricate tapestries, and stunning frescoes by Charles Le Brun. Key highlights include the Grand Salon, the state apartments, and the impressive dome offering panoramic views.
After touring the interiors, you can stroll through the extensive formal gardens designed by André Le Nôtre. These gardens feature geometric patterns, ornate fountains, reflecting pools, and carefully manicured lawns and hedges. The gardens' layout emphasizes symmetry and perspective, creating a breathtaking visual experience.
