Helping parties to resolve disputes can be difficult enough, let alone when there are multiple parties.  Whether you are a mediator or counsel representing one of the multiple parties, your strategy to resolve the dispute just became a lot more complicated.  When the parties are from multiple countries and cultures - and probably different legal systems – the complexity - and the stakes – are that much greater.  Some countries do not even have an evolved history of mediation, and some of the counsel may never have participated in alternative dispute resolution.  The mediation will require delicate work to take into account the interests of each party.  The panel will present hypotheticals presenting the intricacies of a mediation with multiple parties, including dealing with cultural differences that need to be taken into account, choosing a mediator in an international environment, how to set the stage for success, and how to do this in person or in a virtual context.  Most importantly, the panel – and hopefully the audience – will share tips on ways to handle these delicate mediations.
