68th Congress; from October 30 to November 03, 2024; L’EMISSION DES OBLIGATIONS BLEUES: UN MECANISME DE FINANCEMENT A IMPACT
How can financial institutions contribute to the transition towards a sustainable blue economy?
The blue economy encompasses all industries and sectors related to oceans, seas and coasts. UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 “life below water” enables financial institutions to rebuild ocean prosperity, restore biodiversity and regenerate ocean health. Speakers, among other things, will illustrate: (i) initiatives of international organizations to invest in the ocean economy (e.g. the UN Environment Programme Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative); (ii) as financial institutions provide the financing, investment and insurance required to power ocean-linked sectors, including shipping, seafood, marine renewable energy, and can have a sizeable impact on the health of the ocean and accelerate the transition towards a sustainable blue economy; (iii) case studies that give practical examples of successful or challenging projects on the blue economy (e.g. blue bonds)
