On March 7, 2016, lawyers Julien Brel and Benjamin Francos were summoned for interrogation by the Inspection générale de la police nationale (IGPN – General Inspection of National Police) following a complaint lodged by police officers for « rebellion and false allegations”. A group of lawyers, leaded by Ms. Anne Fauré, President of the Toulouse Bar Association, gathered in front of the Toulouse Police Headquarters to support their colleagues.
Previously, on October 23, 2015, following protests against legal aid reform proposals, Messrs. Brel and Francos and fifteen other lawyers filed a complaint against two police officers. Those officers, according to Messrs. Brel and Francos’ testimony, had engaged in violence against the protesters.
