Legal Challenges in Public Procurement: Labour, Administrative and Environmental Aspects
The public procurement process plays a key role in ensuring that public contracts are awarded in a fair, efficient and transparent manner as well as in protecting civil, social and environmental rights.
In Europe, public procurement is a market-based means of achieving the EU’s 2020 strategic goal of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Directive 2014/24/EU deals with the awarding of public contracts and the integration of social and environmental provisions.
Contracts should be awarded based on objective criteria to ensure compliance with the principles of transparency, non-discrimination, equal treatment and environmental protection.
These issues will be discussed during the session which will include experts from the organising commissions and from different jurisdictions. Those attending will have the opportunity to participate actively in the discussion and submit questions.
