During a meeting of the UIA Executive Committee held in December 2017, the city of Luxembourg was selected as the destination for the 63rd Congress of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA) to be held on November 6-10, 2019. This is the fourth time that the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will host the congress of the world’s oldest association of lawyers, after the 3rd UIA Congress in 1931, the 12th in 1950 and the 30th in 1983.
Today, UIA congresses bring together more than 1,200 lawyers from more than 80 different countries.
Like the association itself, UIA’s congresses are professional and formative in nature, but take place in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The human scale of these congresses promotes networking and business opportunities.
UIA’s Luxembourg National Committee has been working tirelessly to bolster the association's image and reputation by organizing a host of events regularly for the past several years.
The Luxembourg Bar Leader, Mr. François Prum, has been appointed President of the 2019 Congress and Mr. Alain Grosjean, President of UIA’s Luxembourg National Committee, will be responsible for the local organization of the congress and its promotion. The Bar’s Vice-President, Mr. François Kremer, will be the Luxembourg Bar President at the time of the congress and will continue to be involved in and to provide his full support for this event during his term. To this end, they will be supported by a dynamic and motivated team whose goal is to organize an unforgettable event.
The 63rd UIA Congress will take place at the European Convention Centre Luxembourg, ECCL.

After holding 7 successful events in Luxembourg, organizing UIA’s Annual Congress in 2019 is a matter of great joy for UIA’s Luxembourg National Committee as well as for the entire Bar Association.
The National Committee is actively preparing to welcome the congress participants in the best possible manner and to offer a quality scientific program.
We hope to see you in large numbers at the Porto Congress this year and in Luxembourg in 2019!
In the case of new memberships, the Luxembourg National Committee undertakes to provide mentoring for new members in order to guide them towards various UIA commissions and working groups as well as its various activities.
