Seminar presented by the UIA Animal Law Commission in collaboration with the UIA Agri-Food Law Commission, UIA Criminal Law Commission, UIA Health Law Commission and UIA U.S. National Committee
Animal Law is International Law - Criminal, Environmental, Food, Health, and more.
The laws regulating the food we eat, the medicine we take, the water we drink, and even the air we breathe all depend on biodiversity – the variety of life on the planet. Today, more than ever, animal law will shape our future.
This seminar, the first UIA International Animal Law Commission Seminar, is about the business of animal law and its impact on agriculture, economics, health, science, and technology – and how to apply a business model to law and policy initiatives that result in measurable progress. It is about thinking and working globally, collectively, and compassionately.
Global opinion, exemplified in the United Nations Resolution on the animal welfare-environment-sustainable development nexus, the One Health approach, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, reflects the increasing realization that human health and well-being are intrinsically connected to the health and well-being of the planet’s flora and fauna. Our current food production methods, destruction of biodiversity, and consumption of natural resources are unsustainable. Many of the world’s most critical issues – protecting human rights, eradicating poverty, maintaining a healthy environment, and feeding the world – are determined by our use and treatment of animals. Lawyers who understand the importance of this relationship and apply it to their clients’ businesses will lead the legal profession into the future.
This seminar aims to bring international lawyers from every discipline together to chart a common path forward for international animal law. We have assembled a group of legal experts from North, South, East, and West to share their knowledge and learn from others.
Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain technology, climate change, ESG, food safety, organized crime, and scientific advances are some of the topics that will be discussed in this important seminar.
This conference is for every lawyer in every practice, and we invite you to join us.
We look forward to seeing you in New York in July 2024!
