Technological advances, security considerations and the media publicity of certain cases in the area of healthcare have brought in an ever growing scrutiny of the citizens’ protection and compensation. Practicing doctors have suddenly become more sensitive and suspicious of having their liability placed in dependence of scientific omissions in medicine, the obligations to be informed and the specific mandatory requirements for security in the area of medicinal products.
Medical liability, considered simultaneously in its aspects deriving from civil law, criminal law, administrative law and disciplinary proceedings, has also demonstrated a significant legislative evolution and development of the jurisprudence in the past decade, which serves as the reason to dedicate these two days to the study of the so called medical malpractice phenomenon.
