What is the role of trade unions and works councils in our globalized economic environment?
This UIA seminar will feature experts from around the world to discuss the legal, economic and social contexts in which trade unions operate today.
It will be a chance to learn about the involvement of trade unions/works councils when important business decisions are to be implemented, such as in the case of large-scale redundancies or a transfer of an undertaking.
We will learn about trade union representation within a company, the rights and duties of the representatives, how they participate in the negotiation of collective agreements, and the effect of such agreements on the employer and the workers.
We will hear from leading private practice lawyers about practical techniques used in conducting negotiations with the trade unions, and in challenging industrial action or the threat of industrial action.
We will also have the latest views on how the social role of trade unions is changing and on the impact of the new generations on the relationship between management and trade unions/works councils.
The seminar will take place in the beautiful city of Istanbul, where the relationships between management and workers take place in a booming economy, but in the face of many new social and economic challenges.
We look forward to seeing you in Istanbul!
