The advent of regulation of general-purpose artificial intelligence systems in conjunction with personal data law : what are the implications for innovators  and investors?
Artificial intelligence (AI) systems, particularly general-purpose ones, are accelerating the transformation of companies and business models. Regulatory projects are multiplying, some now at a very advanced stage, others already in force on a sector-by-sector basis. In the EU, following the political agreement reached on December 23, 2023, the regulation on AI systems is expected to enter into force this year. In the USA, a draft on the transparency of foundation models was submitted on December 22, 2023.  The obligations on the anvil have become increasingly onerous and are being imposed in conjunction with requirements under personal data law.  For innovators and investors,  understanding and implementing this regulatory trend is a major challenge.  This session examines the implications of this regulatory approach particularly in sectors where AI developers build models using sensitive personal data.  The session will focus on the health sector, in particular, among others as a use case.
