During the Macau Congress, the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA – International Association of Lawyers) rewarded several participants for the quality of their scientific contribution.
During the Opening Ceremony on October 31, 2013, Delos Lutton, President of Honour, awarded Joel Fox (Jerusalem, Israel) the International Jacques Leroy Prize - Business and Human Rights, for his work on fair trade: Certifying the Certification - Fair Trade: how can we establish rules that are specific and realistic?
During the Closing Ceremony on November 3rd, the Monique Raynaud-Contamine Prize for the best scientific report at the Congress was awarded to Francisco Ramos Romeu (Barcelona, Spain) and Motoyasu Hirose (Tokyo, Japan), in the Young Lawyers’ category.
And for the first time, the UIA decided to honour the work done by its best scientific commission. It was the Tax Law Commission that, through its President, Tiago José Farça Marreiros Moreira (Lisbon, Portugal), received the jury’s congratulations for all the activities it had undertaken through the year 2013.
